Set Your Mind on Things Above | I Can Be Disciplined and Self Controlled

2 Timothy 1:7 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. NIV

You will never rise above what you believe, and as long as you believe you are not a disciplined person you won’t be.

The Spirit of God which indwells us and is actively working in us as followers of Jesus Christ is a Spirit of Self-Discipline. We have the capacity to be self disciplined. Our cooperation with the Holy Spirit is a key to being self disciplined and self controlled. To say that we are not is to say that we are not allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us.

Self control and discipline are friends that will help you do what you don’t want to do, so you can have what you say you want to have.

As the Bible state, discipline doesn’t bring immediate joy, but it does bring lasting joy later on. The enemy is always out to destroy us and he often tries to do that by influencing us to make bad choices to choose to do what feels good or is easy now, instead of what will be beneficial in the long run.
